Making sure that Apple didn't further destroy file sharing with Sonoma

Before I update my lab to Sonoma, I want to make sure that Apple hasn't completely destroyed file sharing like the did with Ventura (where even the Apple expert on support had to get further support and I was on the phone with them for 6 hours). Does anyone have any issues with using file sharing and Sonoma? It really still doesn't work well with Ventura.

If you depend on File Sharing and are currently using it, do NOT update to Sonoma. There are Authentication problems (Files App on iPhone & iPad) when using file sharing. Oddly enough, the Guest account that uses no authentication works but you need to set folder permissions to allow all users read and write access.. totally hosed..

Your screenshots are showing a "Student" group with Read-only privileges. If each student is part of this group and the share is associated with the "Student" group, then all of the students will be able to read those items. If you review @Barney-15E's setup, they mention "no group".

From the screenshot of the OP, the student accounts are configured as "Sharing Only".

That is the only option. When I go to set up an account on the server (which has to be done on the server -- as well as on the RAID -- these are the only options. If I choose Group, it wants to make a new group. Which I already did and named it "Students" where they are all placed into this group. Standard did not allow them to mount the drive. So Sharing Only was the only option.

Then under the file sharing this is the only options for that Student Group. I have Read Only selected, however it still allows everyone FULL ACCESS to mount and save to anyone else's drive.
