Hello ineedhelppls3210,

This might be the similarities in your faces.

First, delete any facial recognition profiles saved, and make a fresh new one. Make sure there are no alternate appearances confusing the system: Set up Face ID on iPhone - Apple Support

"To set up an additional appearance for Face ID to recognize, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Set Up an Alternate Appearance, then follow the onscreen instructions."

If he is still able to unlock the device, it may be due to his age and the face as he is your sibling. You will need to turn it off and use another option: About Face ID advanced technology - Apple Support

"The probability that a random person in the population could look at your iPhone or iPad Pro and unlock it using Face ID is approximately 1 in 1,000,000 with a single enrolled appearance. As an additional protection, Face ID allows only five unsuccessful match attempts before a passcode is required. The statistical probability is different for twins and siblings that look like you and among children under the age of 13, because their distinct facial features may not have fully developed. If you're concerned about this, we recommend using a passcode to authenticate."

Thanks.

Hey ineedhelppls3210,

Since your brother seems to be having no problem accessing your iPhone in 30 seconds, we have a few suggestions for you to try.

First, please review the information in this article: Use a passcode with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Next, apply any of these steps you feel comfortable using:

  1. If you're using a 4-digit passcode, consider using a 6 digit passcode instead.
  2. Require a passcode immediately when you lock your iPhone.
  3. Consider turning off all of the options found under "Allow Access When Locked"

See if the changes in these settings keeps your brother from accessing your iPhone.

Feel free to get back to us with any questions or problems you may have.

All the best.

hello Eric--F,

trust me, my brother and i do not look that similar lol but i think i what i was meant to say was that you know that white little lock icon u see above the date on the lockscreen and it unlocks when u have either entered the passcode or when the facial recognition has matched, although i had both set up for some reason that icon disappeared even after 30 seconds which i had set my auto-lock to, and my brother was able to just swipe up with no problem, but after a few hours of me posting the discussion i had updated my phone again and the issue was resolved. thanks for your help though! :)
