Sharing Internet from M2 MacBook Air

Hi there - anyone had success sharing internet over WiFi from a USB connected iPhone using an M2 MacBook Air.

I can connect the phone and the MacBook has internet access - tick

I can turn on Internet Sharing and select from iPhone USB - tick

I can tick WiFi as the means to share - tick

And then when I click Wifi details - it crashes

Everytime

With the message of:

Settings Error

Extension process Sharing (2188) exited.

Any thoughts anyone?

Having a router, I've never even considered internet sharing. Each device (11 in all) makes its own connection to the router.

If you have a router, why share at all?
