Apple Mail and Outlook IOS on IPhone - Space issue

I originally set up my email accounts in Apple Mail on my IPhone a long time again. I installed and started using Outlook IOS for one of the accounts (work).

I am at the limit of my space 64 gb and need to clean some data off. The emails for the account are on an Exchange server. Are both apps using the same data or is my data duplicated?

Would it help to delete the account from Apple mail and if so can I delete the account in “mail” under settings or will that delete the account from both apps?

The Apple Mail app and Outlook for iOS operate independently. Data in both apps is also saved separately. If you have an email account setup for both apps, then the data will be duplicated on the iPhone.

You can remove a mail account in the Settings app and that will only remove the account from the Apple Mail app. As you know, all mail accounts for Outlook are set within the settings section in Outlook.

As a side note, 64GB of total space on an iPhone, these days, is really not sufficient for proper operation of an iPhone. As you may have learned, you can fill that space up very fast and then apps begin to stop running efficiently.
