Do not disturb function

Have struggled on several iPhones now and can't get it to work... Can't turn on disturbance and it also works as intended, but when I go in and try to send an SMS to the phone that has the function turned on, it shows it's not on my phone in messages. I enter the number and press in the message field and it usually says in small blue letters that messages are ignored and a moon appears. But it does not happen....
Are there any settings that need to be in order before this works every time??

Hello bertil241,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about Focus.

Do not disturb is now in Focus. Check all the new options: Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Most settings do not reply to your sender that you are busy. One exception is the driving auto-reply: Stay focused while driving with iPhone - Apple Support

Another is ensuring your share status is enabled:

"Share your Focus status

When you set up a Focus, turn on Share Focus Status so that apps display that you have notifications silenced when people message you. Since apps only know that you have notifications silenced but not which Focus you have turned on, the name is never shared. Focus status is shared in apps when you have a Focus turned on and after you give an app permission.

To turn Focus status on:

  1. Go to Settings > Focus.
  2. Tap Focus Status.
  3. Turn on Share Focus Status.
  4. Select which Focus options can share that you have notifications silenced."

Not all apps auto-reply.

Thanks.
