User names and passwords for autofill greyed out on Safari Mac

Autofill stopped working for passwords and the option is greyed out to select. I have tried removing the plist, restarting several times, and logging out of my Apple ID and still cannot select this.


This problem started a couple weeks ago, prior to upgrading to Sonoma and was hoping the update would reset Safari, but it has not. I am using a MacBook Pro M1 2021 and other than updating the OS, have not made any changes. I have read this has been a problem on and off over the years with some select users. Does anyone know of a solution?
