Alarm does not work in stand-by mode

I just bought an iPhone 15 plus. I want to take advantage of the stand-by mode, so i charge my phone and lean it on its side. Then for whatever reason, the alarm does not work. Sometimes it makes the sound for half a second and then turns itself off. Sometimes, it makes no sound.

Alarms, which wake people up to go to work, should NEVER be disabled. We should be able to trust our phone to wake us up.

I have seen some explanations of haptics, and sleep mode, and whatever. Regardless of all these things, we should be able to trust our alarms

yes. i did reboot the device. iphone 15 plus on iOS 17.0.3. Do Not Disturb is on. Phone is connected via USBc charger. Phone is on it's side so i can view time and calendar. sound is turned off. Haptics set to Play in Silent Mode. The alarm makes a sound for half a second and then disables without me touching the phone at all (not snooze, it just turned off completely). I am setting the alarm on an older iPad so I am not late to work. Most mornings, the phone makes no sound at the alarm time.

If i turn off the stand-by mode, the alarm works as usual. [OR- If i turn off the haptics, the alarm works as usual. iPhones are sounding alarms when the phone is in silent mode, or even powered off (because alarms are important). there should be no haptics or stand-by setting which could disable an alarm without touching the screen. I have seen other people posting about this exact problem on other threads. I am hoping Apple will see us all complaining about missing work because of their glitch and finally fix it.

I’m having the same issue. My iPhone XS is on charge and placed in a phone stand overnight. Last night I set my alarm and ringtone so high that everyone on my floor and the floor below me should be able to hear it. I have multiple alarms and my phone only did one of my earlier alarm which was extremely quiet and it played none of my other alarms. This morning I woke up an hour late and I clicked on the screen to see one alarm that has snoozed by itself. I’ve missed so many days I don’t know what to do!!!!!! How do we get apple to fix their mistake!

I’m so confused! I went to where you linked but the attention awareness feature is turned on and greyed out so I can’t turn it off. I do think that it’s the reason my alarm isn’t working but I can’t do anything. My iPhone has a faulty TrueDepth sensor and so I can’t use Face ID but why is the attention awareness feature on? And why can’t I turn it off?

I followed the link and posted this:

iOS version 17.1.2

When my phone (15 plus) is charging and in standby mode (which is how many users sleep), the alarm does not work properly. Sometimes I hear it for half a second and then it shuts off. sometimes it makes no sound at all

I have read many comments in apple discussions. Some say it is haptics, some say it is attention awareness. regardless, it is quite irresponsible for a phone's alarm to be affected by some setting that is not listed in the alarm or stand-by. How many people should be late for school/work until you fix this?

💡 Solution: In order for morning alarms to ring while your iPhone is in StandBy Mode, make sure to set a “Sleep | Wake Up” alarm in the Clock or Health App for the time you want instead of setting a normal alarm. This worked well for me. The alarm plays loud and clear and the UI in StandBy includes a large snooze button, stop button, and even a nice good morning message. Hope that helps! :)
