IPhone randomly turns off speaker mode

Let's back up and update using these steps:

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.

4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? Does this happen only during phone calls? Do you experience this with FaceTime as well? Also, are you using a screen protector?

Have you been able to update to iOS 17.0.3 and test again?

If not, let's go ahead and complete those steps first. If you have updated, but not seen any improvement, you can connect with Apple directly to report the behavior using either Get Support or if you're in a region without direct support options, you can also Contact Apple for support and service.
