Black screen fan on MacBook

My Mac turns on but screen remains black. All I hear is the fan in the back. What could this be?

Macbook Air has glitched My Macbook Air randomly glitched today. It has a black screen with coloured lines to the left side. It is not turning on and just opens to that. I can’t do anything to fix it can anyone help please?
