what happened to the outline shapes in iphoto —now they are opaque and no longer outlines. If I want to make a nice circle or rectangle around a word, I can no longer do it.

Taking away the Outline default shape, without question has to be the worst update to the Edit feature within the Photos app. I understand that you can draw an outline quickly with your finger, while keeping pressed down on the screen, and it will create an outline....BUT you cannot the edit the color or size of this outline...or move it to a more specific outline location on the photo. And to select the outline within the "Shapes" feature, involves several more insane steps of selecting outline color, then Opacity...and then still not certain as to which one is which. I cannot comprehend why and Outline shape was replaced with a completely filled in square or rectangle. Why not just have the Outline shape, as a Default shape?? Or it at least allow us to Customize one and/or Save that as our Favorite shapes???
THANK YOU‼️ I have been trying to figure this out FOREVER! (Well . . . since it changed.) The icons in the circles are not very intuitive. I’m a programmer, and I thought I had tried every combination of the circles, but I guess not. 😵💫
Where do we tap “edit”? If I tap the 3 dots, it gives me cut, copy, duplicate, and delete. Are you talking about something that happens on an iPhone?

I noticed that immediately after the update as I tend to use the shapes in many of my photos. Now I’m kind of bummed. What’s the point of a solid color square in photo editing? Besides plastering it on someone’s face. But I can do that with the markup pen. This shape thing needs to go back the way it was.

For now.
1. I use opaque shapes to insert a text graphic into an image.
2. You can change the opacity by selecting the shapes’ color dot and sliding the opacity value to the left.
note: opacity is a changeable option for all the shapes and maybe even text (I haven’t tried less opaque text yet).
Sliding the opacity value to the left ie, zero, does NOTHING to reduce opacity. It only turns whatever color the solid sphere was before to solid white. And continues to obscure whatever is under the solid white I want to circle.
Thank you so much! I used that feature more often than anything else (I don't have a steady hand,) and I was really bummed that it seemed gone. Hopefully they'll still add the easy way back, but this helps!!!
