Voicemail disappeared after last 2 updates on my iPhone 14 Pro.

I’ve tried all the suggestions and nothing worked! All of my messages are deleted and I had many saved from loved ones who had passed and won’t ever hear their voice again. This is heartbreaking and I’m so upset I can’t retrieve them when others are claiming it worked for them. There has to be something else?

I never was able to retrieve them but I called myself and all my saved vm were still there so I used my husbands phone and just recorded them all.. not the same but at least it’s not completely gone! I had a ton saved from my dad that passed.. hope this helps.

Same! I just recently updated my phone to the newest iOS version and all my voicemails are gone! I’d been saving voice mails from my parents and my friends for years— one especially from my mom that she left me right after she woke up from a major surgery to let me know she was okay. Gone.

Same thing happened a few years ago with my last phone too. Updated and all my notes disappeared from my phone. I was devastated then too because I had a cache of love letters I’d written for my partner (I’d write them on my notes app before writing them on paper) and I was half way done with the one for our next anniversary when it disappeared. Neither Apple NOR my carrier claimed responsibility for it, and “neither” of them were able to do anything about it. Said I should’ve used iCloud to back it up. Except there’s not enough iCloud storage and they force you to pay for more!

If you use factory reset and select restore from latest backup, will it also keep all your text messages? I also have those from deceased relatives that I want to keep.

FYI, when I tried the *86, all the returned messages are from the same number, and just have people talking in the background. Weird.

I remember this exact same problem that several years ago I upgraded or updated my phone and all my voicemail was gone, and I fell into the same trap and I really hate this company that they don’t know how to do software updates.

I am done with Apple. I am switching to you know something else.

I went to the Apple Store and got help

First, shut off your phone then turn it on. Second, press and hold the number 1 on your phone dial pad. Put in your voicemail password when prompted. My voicemails appeared. I hope this works for you.

I thought mine were lost too but after trying what a few people suggested- I was able to access them the “old-fashioned “ way by calling voicemail and playing them. They were there and not really lost but now I’m trying to figure out how to download or do something so that I don’t need to access them in that inconvenient way.

This is what I did: go to settings—phone—live voicemail- toggle to “off”- turn phone off - restart phone- go to voicemails. At this point, the voicemails didn’t appear but something new appeared- an option to call voicemail to listen to messages. All of my old voice messages that I had not deleted were there. I hope this helps a lot of you who think they lost special voicemails. I too was heartbroken when I thought mine were lost. Good luck🙏🏻

I had the same issue and while Apple acknowledged that it was an issue with the update and they couldn’t remedy it as of yet, one helpful person I spoke with suggested I go to the keypad and press down the number 1 until it prompts you to check your voicemail. I typed in my code and found the 30 voicemails that were lost. Because I was able to play them back but unable to export them, I played each one back on speaker and used my son’s phone to record voice memos of each voicemail. Then I saved them to my files and will have forever. Hope this helps you

Try this:

First, shut off your phone, wait 10 seconds and then turn it back on.

Second, when you’re back on the internet, go to your keypad dial and press and hold the #1. You should be prompted to put in your voicemail passcode.

Once in, your voicemails should appear. I hope this works for you.

Just today all my voicemails were gone , had red dot on voicemail icon but it disappeared. Atat tech couldn’t leave vm . Then Atat was able to help reset vm but still didn’t have visual . I was told this hasn’t been reported so I said guess I’ll be the first to report then . VM’s are on their server so their not deleted and can be listened too but they aren’t listed you have to dial in . Atat said they are going to contact me to see if it resolves by tomorrow.

It been a week and still no help, I have Att as a carrier and the toggle visual voicemail off and restart did not work, called Apple no help, Att can’t actually talk to someone!!! This is ridiculous!!! Help!!!

Has anyone gone in and restore an old back up and did it work? I’m concerned that my moms voice mails from 8 years ago might be there but my dads Vm may not because it was after the last back up. Help

I had same problem and did the suggested fix of turning live voicemail off and restarting my phone. It didn’t work the first time but turned livevoicemail on again then turned it off, turned my phone off for about 15 minutes turned it back on and after about 20 minutes I noticed my old voicemails started coming back a few at a time.

Didn’t work. Called Apple. Zero help. On the phone with Verizon all day! I’m on my fourth rep who informs me they are going to call Apple support! I don’t get what is so hard. If I never deleted them shouldn’t they still be there on a server or something somewhere?! I hate the Apple updates! Only do them because if not phone always starts acting up. This is ridiculous and what is lost is irreplaceable!

Hi! I’ve had the same issue with voicemails disappearing after the update. I read that if you hold down the #1 button on your dial pad it will call your voicemails. You have to type in your PIN number but you can listen to your old voicemails that way. I hope this helps.
