What does it mean when an IMAC 27 inch (late 214) has the OS name in about as unarchived?

I had to downgrade the OS from Big Sur to Yosemite because of an issue. The computer would not bootup due to a problem with the kernel. I was unable to re-install the Big Sur OS and had to use Shift-Option-Command -R to reset the computer. How do I re-install Big Sur?

Repair MacOS for my iMac 21.5' as I mistakenly wiped tin preparation for sale and now have no operating system at all? I was preparing my mid 2011 iMac 21.5' and follow the suggested instructions for erasing all my date. I was running High Sierra OS and when I was in the Disk Utility where I correctly deleted the Macintosh Hd drive and then mistakenly erased the File image on the OS which has left me without an operating system and cannot boot up the computer. I have tried to do the suggested reinstall from the Recovery menu but I am getting nowhere. Can anyone help with possible solutions please?

I have a imac late 2013 running High Sierra and am getting rid of it. I followed the procedure for eraising the HD and recovering the OS and it cannot find the recovery OS. The issue is I need High Sierra to finish the erasing of my old unit
