Paper clip does not open slot

in the US. I am returning the iphone 12.
After posting, I did get it to open by holding the paper clip with a plier, rather than my thumb, and that gave it enough force to release. :-)

An iPhone 15 Pro sold in the US does not have a SIM slot, which means the SIM itself won’t be useful to anyone once the cellular plan is transferred from the iPhone 12 and its SIM to the iPhone 15 and its eSIM.

Ah, it wasn't the iPhone 15 Pro you were trying to open. All makes sense now.
Yes, it can be hard to open them with your thumb. It hurts!
In what country did you buy your iPhone 15 Pro?
