Unavailable Iphone and Update and Restore

So, I got my screen smashed recently and got it fixed but I locked my iPhone. I had to call and wait for the Apple ID password to be able to reset since I forgot it. I get all the access back and am about to erase my phone, but it doesn't allow me to. So, I called and the person on support told me I must do it on iTunes. However, when it asks me to click update or restore, it tells me I need to press "restore" but when I did it told me I had to update my phone first. So, I told him, but he kept telling me that I needed to press "restore" and it was repeating over and over so I let it update and now my phone says Unavailable for 7 Hours. My question is will I be able to put my passcode? Or will it just erase or still say that the iPhone is unavailable? I locked my phone because I was smashing the passcode pad trying to get in while the screen was cracked and showing weird colors because of the fall damage I still know the passcode to my phone.

Hi bc_cleta,

If we understand correctly, you're seeing a message that your iPhone is unavailable, and you were advised to restore. Is that right? If you've had your iPhone display repaired and you see a message indicating that you can try again in 7 hours, you may be able to put in your passcode then.

Otherwise, if your device is locked or unavailable, you'd need to restore as previously advised by using this guidance: If you see an iPhone or iPad unavailable message or Security Lockout screen - Apple Support

Kind regards.
