What is unified memory

What exactly does the term Unified Memory mean? SSD would be the memory the computer uses to process information, but I don’t know the Unified Memory designation - it’s been awhile since I bought a laptop.

Memory is RAM; the SSD is Storage.

"Unified" is the term Apple uses to denote that the CPU, graphics processor, RAM, and storage are on a single chip. Very efficient.

That also means that none on those can be changed after the computer leaves the production line. The RAM and storage you buy today will be your "forever" RAM and storage. Don't assume you can add more later if you need more; it is impossible.
