My new IP 15 charged fully via the USB-C port as soon as I received it. After I set it up the USB-C port doesn't work, only the wireless charging. Anyone else have the same problem?

Is this an IOS problem or is my phone bad? I have tried all of my USB-C cables including the one I used at first charge. Everything else on the phone seems to work fine.

iPhone XR, iOS 16

Hey!

Are you plugging this USB-C cord into a wall outlet, a car, or another device? If it is plugged into another device, you may have to approve of this device before it can be allowed to charge the device. You can also try cleaning out the USB-C port. Likewise, make sure the USB charging brick is from APPLE - this is a common issue, and other bricks may not work with iPhone due to wattage issues. This may sound silly, but you can also make sure the outlet you are plugged into functions properly, and that whatever source you are using to charge has a high-enough output. You can also try to force restart the phone to see if that fixes the issue:

  • Press and quickly release volume up button
  • Then immediately press and quickly release volume down button
  • Then immediately press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button. KEEP HOLDING it past the swipe to power off and KEEP holding it until you see the Apple Logo, then let go

Phone 15 Pro not charging - Apple Community - users in this thread have also suggested that their brick was causing the issue.

Best of luck,

UPDATE! My problem was back in Oct of 23. After the IOS 17 update, about a month later in November, I plugged in my charging cable to check and it went bling and started charging normally. It has worked as normal ever since. I feel it was an IOS issue. The phone works as well as my Xr but I hate the big assed camera lenses on the back they are always dirty and smudged or my camera protector over them is scratched. I liked the small camera on my Xr. These seem to be a waste. Otherwise, it works well now. I'm on Consumer Cellular, BTW.
