My iPhone 15 Plus is not Titanium

I assumed that all iPhone 15s were titanium but I just received my 15 Plus and it feels like plastic. Is this model made of plastic?

Thank you.

The iPhone 15 Pro models use the titanium chassis. Your iPhone 15 plus uses glass back and aluminium frame. From the Apple web description,

The innovative new design features back glass that has color infused throughout the material. A custom dual ion-exchange process for the glass, and an aerospace-grade aluminum enclosure, help make iPhone 15 incredibly durable.

To anyone who cares, I just found out that the black version of the 15 Plus IS plastic. It's matte black and does NOT have the glass finish that the rest of the colors have.

I wish that information was made clearer before I bought it.

Thanks for your responses.

You found out this information, where exactly? Apple certainly hasn't suggested the iPhone 15 Plus in black is plastic and I simply don't believe it is.

Please open this link and look at the specifications for the iPhone 15 Plus, which Apple clearly notes is made of the following materials: iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus - Technical Specifications - Apple

Black, Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink

Aluminum design

Ceramic Shield front

Color-infused glass back

Whoever suggested a black iPhone 15 Plus is made of anything else is lying to you.

There is NO SUCH THING as any model of iPhone 15 plus or otherwise, which is made of plastic.

Ceramic Shield is a type of glass-ceramic material that Apple first used on iPhone 12 series phones. It has nano-size ceramic crystals that are intended to make the glass tougher and less likely to break.

CNET – iPhone 12's display is protected by 'ceramic shield' glass

So the iPhone 15s have glass backs, and toughened glass fronts, with the frame being either aluminum or titanium depending on the particular model (aluminum for 15 and 15 Plus; titanium for 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max).

According to Apple, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have an aluminum design, with a Ceramic Shield front, and a color-infused glass back. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have a titanium design, with a Ceramic Shield front, and a textured matte glass back.

This is from the Technical Specifications pages for the respective phones.

If we pay closer attention to how Apple announces it and shows it on TV,YT ETC they never display the 15 or 15+ when making the bold claim “iPhone 15 with titanium” very overly used but if you watch it closely it is a PRO model they display. If you watch the Key Note as well they say it in plain English that the titanium exists in ONLY PRO models. The 15 Plus as you say is Aluminum as it is an entry model. Can’t get a Mercedes n expect it to be AMG powered, nope has to be the correct model for said expectations! .

Yes, but I wasn't thinking or trying to refer to phones made a zillion years ago. I was trying to just say there is no iPhone 15 model which is plastic. I suppose the "otherwise" could be confusing, but I would hope not ;-)

Suffice to say, the OP does NOT own a plastic iPhone 15 Plus in Black. Such a phone does NOT exist. No matter what someone else told them.
