G drive how to hook up to my 2017 Mac pro laptop

I have a G Drive hooked up to my 2008 Imac 24" running on OsX Capitan 10.11.6. I now want to transfer my latest backup to my 2017 Mac pro laptop 13"running on Mac os Ventura 13.6. I believe I need a cable from the g drive to the Mac pro. The mac pro has 2 Thunderbolt ports only. The Gdrive has 3 ports . below is picture of back of g drive. Is there a certain cable i need to transfer from this G drive to the 2017 Mac pro laptop. Will that work? I have tried using Migration assistant and it wont find my computer.

The best option would be to get an Apple USB-C to USB-A Adapter so that you can use the G Drive's USB cable to connect to your laptop. At least this way, you will be able to use the USB-C to USB-A Adapter for other older USB devices (such as a USB wired keyboard or mouse).

Hard to say if such an old Time Machine backup will be seen by a new computer. I would advise you to only migrate the home user folder since the apps for a 10.6 system will not be compatible with your new Mac. You will need to download & install the latest versions of any third party apps you want to use.
