Hey RFMcHendry,

When you see the globe and being asked to connect to a Wi-Fi network, that means your Mac is starting to Internet Recovery. This mode does require internet access as it's using Apple Servers to provide Recovery Mode tools. What happens when you choose a Wi-Fi network? If you're seeing a globe with an exclamation point, the steps in the section "Globe with warning symbol" should help: If your Mac doesn't start up all the way - Apple Support

If not, let us know a bit more details:

  • Which exact Mac model do you have? It's important to know as steps do vary between intel and Apple silicon Mac. Identify your MacBook Pro model - Apple Support
  • Do you see an alert when you select a Wi-Fi network when starting up your Mac? If so, what does it say exactly?

The more details you can provide the better.

Take care!
