After installing Magic Keyboard (using usb cable) I got the system telling : Magic Keyboard connected wireless .
When I disconnect the usb cable, the wireless connection failed.

Did you actually open Bluetooth preferences and connect? Sometimes you have to prod a wireless device manually to connect. Don't try and connect wirelessly when it's plugged into the Mac emulating a USB keyboard.

There is a Slider Switch on the front edge of the Keyboard that requires being Switched to the On Position

Generally, Pairing an Apple Keyboard to More than One computer is not possible
You would have to Forget the Keyboard on the iPad >> First
Then and only then it will allow Pairing the same Keyboard to the computer

after disconnecting with ipad and connecting with macbook air it soes not work without cable
Yess i know and i did unpair the ipad first.
