Create an automation that updates all apps on iOS when...

Problem: Some of my apps go months without updating which causes complications sometimes.

Attempted Solution: Is there a way to update apps via Shortcutd? Basically update my apps when I am connected to wifi and charging, any time of the day, not just at night like the Automatic Updates setting does.

"Create an automation that updates all apps on iOS when...: I'm sorry if you misunderstood. The idea is to set up an automation to check for updates and install all available app updates because iOS way of doing this is causing issues."

iPhone Automatic Updates:

A. Automatically Updating an iPhone:

Automatically updates are most certainly an option for iPhones: See here: Update iOS on iPhone - Apple Support

B. Automatically Updating a Third-Party App:

Recommend this to Apple:

As for third-party apps, you need to update the apps form within the app itself. So, recommend that Apple makes this an option...

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this. Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more they hear of this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed. Apple will know nothing of through ideas, if you do not report it to them.

To Provide Feedback:

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that you think this should be an option and why. Include the URL of the thread.
  4. Proceed form there as necessary

Installing App Updates Automatically:

Apps have their own updates. You need to install the apps on your own. They are not part of the iOS.
