replacement for Airport Express for use with Airplay audio to receiver

I am looking for a way to replace my Airport Express, which is no longer working or supported.

I used it to stream audio from my phone, laptop etc. and others on my wifi network could stream as well.

I've tried the Belkin SOUNDFORM CONNECT AirPlay 2 Audio Receiver, which did not play well with iOS at all. Wasn't able to get it to work even with their own app. Seemed like a great replacement but nope.

Next I. tried this guide using a Raspberry Pi to connect to my receiver, but it's not exactly plug-and-play and I haven't been able to get that to work consistently either.
