Unable to open various office docs in sonoma 14.0

Since upgrading to Sonoma 14.0 i have discovered that i am unable to open some documents (Word & Excel). The excel issue seems to be related to documents that opened perfectly in the previous macOS, but now won't. Double clicking on the file in finder has little movement, the icon sort of 'explodes' and then disappears, then nothing (I also have an issue with Finder but will raise another conversation for that). Closing and opening the main excel is OK, but these particular files (.xlsm) will not open. It appears it is only .xlsm files in one specific dropbox folder as other .xlsm files in other folders open OK, with the regular macro warning.

I also now find i cannot open Word docs from some folders. I have a folder with minute documents in that open OK, but go to another folder and try to open a document with no success.

Both Word and Excel do not require any force quitting, however quitting and restarting the apps has no effect on opening the other files.

I stress this has only occurred since i upgraded to Sonoma 14.0 as i was trundling along all happy prior to that, with none of the issues now experienced.

Best open your own thread, explaining your own problem to get more attention.

Regarding your old Word documents, if you've saved them in OneDrive you can find them online, and download them manually. Your new MacBook won't connect (sync with) to OneDrive automatically. You have to do that manually, but if you enable automatic sync with OneDrive, you most probably would get unaccounted for lack of storage, heating up, battery drain etc.
