My IPhone X refuses to let me type the letter y

It sounds like you have a hardware issue with the digitizer on your iPhone. This would require a visit to your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation and options. And that may require you to pay Apple to replace the screen on your iPhone. Personally, I wouldn't invest that much money in an iPhone X, which can't even support the most recent iOS 17. But that's up to you.

Troubleshooting iPhone Keypad:

A. Force Restart your iPhone:

Keys on the keypad may not be responding. Start with a Force Restart, seeing that that get this working.

Some apps do not allow for certarn key usage, whatever the orientation.
