Sleep focus mode doesn’t turn off with Sleep/wake alarm iOS 17

Since upgrading to iOS 17 (now on 17.03) when the scheduled sleep / wake alarm goes off the focus modes doesn’t change. Sleep focus schedule in health app is set to the same time but this feature is broken. iPhone 15 Pro Max. I’ve seen 100s of similar issues raised in iOS 16 as well but I only had it when I got my new iPhone.

I have had this problem for about a week. Sleep Focus never turns off in the morning. Updating the phone did not help. Even if I delete the Sleep Focus and create it again, it automatically shows the same schedules created previously and turns on (even at a time when it's not supposed to be on).

A couple of things that might be related to this:

  • I just came back from a long trip to a completely different time zone (8-hour difference).
  • I just bought a new Apple Watch and still had both watches synchronized with my phone.

I had a phone call with Apple, and after deleting the Sleep Focus (which did not help), they suggested resetting all configurations on the phone, which I was not willing to do.

Since it seemed to be related to the time schedules, I tried to delete them. I have one for weekdays and a different one for weekends. However, I couldn't find how to delete any of them. So, I edited the weekdays one (which was actually the one that wasn't working) so that it would only be on ON SUNDAYS. This automatically made the weekend one change, and it now only turns on on Saturdays.

Then I created a new one for the weekdays. After that, I changed the weekend one to also include Sundays, which made the 'offending' schedule disappear.

Now it seems to be working well. Sorry for my non-native English; I hope this is understandable and can help somebody.

I have the same issue with sleep focus turning on when scheduled but then never turning off anymore after updating to iOS 17. It isn’t a matter of setting up correctly in the Focus section in settings. I have a sleep and wake schedule but my phone only follows the sleep part and never switches back to wake mode unless I manually turn off sleep mode. Very annoying.

I’m having the same issue with my watch and iPhone15. Both have the most recent update. Sleep focus won’t turn off. And Health sleep tracker only records sleep until my alarm goes off even if I fall back to sleep. Siri has always been a joke which is absolutely ridiculous with all the new ai. I’ve tried changing the schedule and Turing it off and on again, the basics. Nothing makes a difference. Everything was fine until this last update. I upgraded my phone a few weeks ago but the problem started after the latest update.

This issue just started with my 14pro max when I updated to 17.2.1 and paired my new watch 9. Now, everyday when my alarm goes off on my watch, I turn it off on my watch but the alarm screen stays on on the phone and even once it’s turned off, the phone and watch are still in sleep mode. I’ve check all the settings and everything shows correct but I have to manually get out of sleep mode on each device everyday.

Has anyone had any luck figuring this out! I got an iPhone 15 Max Pro on 2/11/24 and I’m having this issue. Phone is updated to ISO 17.3.1 and sleep mode turns off after I shut the alarm off and then 30 seconds later turns back on. It’s driving me nuts! Also, I’ve noticed that my alarm doesn’t get progressively louder anymore, it just blares at full volume.. if anyone has a fix for that, I’d greatly appreciate a recommendation!

Anyone still having this issue? I completely removed the schedule for sleep mode several

months ago. Picked up my phone this morning and it’s on Sleep Mode and won’t turn off sleep mode. At least before I just had to go without sleep mode. Now it’s on constantly. I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find a similar situation. As you can see from this screen shot attached, it’s saying I have sleep mode turned off while you can see the sleep mode on symbol next to the time.

Same here. I “upgraded” from a 13 Pro Max on iOS 17.4 to an iPhone 15 Pro Max on iOS 17.4, & while a good number of settings did not come down (it turned off listening for Siri & reduce animations for example, but the one thing that’s really annoying is now my sleep mode does not automatically turn off when my alarm goes off at 0630. I will open a Support ticket today and see what Support has to say, but I won’t hold my breath, of late, Apple’s support has kind of gone the way of seemingly every other company, down the tubes. All excuses, no solutions.

Apple, listen to your customers. This.is.broken. This needs to work like Amazon Echo Devices. Alarm on the watch being worn or last used device before broadcasting to all...or make it configurable...but for crying out loud, off should mean off on all.

If you actually allowed competing Alarm apps that sync'd across all devices, I would just move on to another app. If you're going to be a monopoly, at least be one that isn't annoying.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max. And have 17.5.1 installed, and this issue just started happening to me. Sleep goes on, but does not automatically turn off.

it was also a coincidence that I had my Apple Watch replaced due to a dying battery (version 6) and when I got it back and did my full backup and restore, that’s when all the issues started. Is there some weird bug between the watch and the phone where one overrides the other?
