Mute Doesn't Work With Macbook and Airpods Pro 2

I'm trying to find out if this is a known issue or intended?

I have the following:

  • Airpods Pro 2 with USB C
  • MacBook Pro 2.3 Ghz Qaud Core Intel i7
  • OS: Ventura 13.6

While I'm on a Zoom call, when I press either side of the earbud once, mute doesn't work at all. Holding it just turns Transparency mode on or off. This seems to be the case where mute doesn't work regardless of what I'm using.

What is going on?

You can check your settings to see how touch controls are configured specifically for Mac:

"Change how you end a call and mute yourself with your AirPods Pro

By default, you can double-press the stem on your AirPods to end a call, and press once to mute and unmute, but you can switch these controls.

  1. Wear your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • On iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings , then tap the name of your AirPods near the top of the screen. Tap End Call or Mute & Unmute, then choose Press Once or Press Twice. The other option automatically switches.
    • On Mac: Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click the name of your AirPods in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down). On the right, select an option next to “End call” or “Mute & unmute.” The other option automatically switches."

Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but I too have this issue where I cannot mute my AirPods Pro 2nd Gen when watching a program on my Apple TV 4K. Attempting to mute with a single press of the stem pauses the video stream. I want to mute commercials, not pause the track. It's a bit of a mystery. I have this function with my Shure RMCE-TW2 bluetooth earbuds but not with the AirPods Pro?

Thanks

Hi, unfortunately without any details it is impossible for us to understand the problem you are experiencing. there are many other people who are using MutePod correctly every day without problems. There is probably a problem with your Mac. However, if you are unable to give us more details and you are not happy with your purchase, you can request a refund through Apple.
