Let’s define “overheating”. If an iPhone overheats it shuts down so it can’t be used, and displays a message saying it must cool down before it can be turned on, and it will probably be unusable for an hour or so. If you are seeing this it is a hardware problem and you should contact Apple support:

Note that both of the above have options to receive a callback or chat

If you are not seeing this your phone has not overheated. However, if you fast charge your phone may pause charging at 80% and display a message saying that charging has paused, and will resume when the phone cools down. This is NOT overheating, and is normal when fast charging.

Also, some apps that use a lot of energy or that use cellular data rather than Wi-Fi can cause the phone to run warmer.

The person commenting about overheating. Let us help you! If you define overheating as above then how about it is hotter than normal! We haven’t changed our iPhone habits. What we have noticed is since the update the phone isn’t the same as it has been. In other words since you are trying to act like the geek squad. We just want our phone left alone and the same after an update. Don’t tell me hard drive and all the other nonsense is going out when phone had no issues before.

14 Pro here running 17.04. Phone overheats and and freezes up, is unusable with just Chrome open. Battery life is atrocious now. Have to do a physical memory dump 5-10 times per day. This all started with IOS 17.

anyone now how I can revert back to IOS 16 which is more stable?

Apple, wth is going on here? Is my phone being hacked or monitored?

After every successive IOS update (currently on 17.4) my 14 Pro keeps getting worse. Overheating, physical memory drain, forced reboot, and all with just one app running (Chrome).

When is Apple going to fix this? Unacceptable. My phone shuts itself off 10-20 times per day.

Why can’t we just revert back to a stable version of IOS like 16?

Apple, fix this garbage.

Since it is painfully obvious that IOS 17.4, 17.3 are not stable, why hasn’t Apple allowed the effected devices to revert back to IOS 16?

My device a 14 Pro overheats and reboots itself 10-20 !times per day. It’s unusable. Why did I pay a premium for this product and why am I paying for an Icloud subscription when none of it works?

When will this get resolved? When?

Mine does it too. It doesn’t happen as often (as of today 3/31/24) it’s only happened a couple times today being on of them. It wasn’t even on or running anything!!! Had to take off the case and it’s still not cooling down. I had it happen and it took so long for it to cool down (1-3 hours). Literally waved it around in the air, blew cold air on it, shut it down.
