Can I cast without cables to a non Apple TV

Macs don't support "Casting". That is a Google only feature.


On Macs you can use AirPlay, if your TV supports it.

"Casting" massively compresses the picture, and ends up sending a poor approximation of the picture on your display, over a medium that typically does not have enough bandwidth to support crisp details, high frame rates, and clear sound.


A TV set is an excellent purpose-built electronic device intended to accept full-speed Video inputs, such as from your computer outputs. My TV has several HDMI inputs, any of which can be selected.


Use a high certified "PREMIUM" HDMI cable for full resolution and support for full motion Video on most HD TV sets.


If you need to adapt from some other computer output, readers are eager to recommend solutions for that.
