Emails sent via IOS Share feature sometimes disappear.

Two devices, iPhone 11 and iPad Pro 12.1, both updated to version 16.7.1, have sporadic problem with emails. Both devices use IMAP on my end and it’s been an issue across the past several security updates. When the Share feature is used within a native Apple app to send the recipient a link, document or other attachment via Mail, the email is not sent and completely disappears with no trace in Sent or any other folders on either device or anywhere on my IMAP server. It has also occurred with a simple Reply in Mail.

It’s not a case of closing out the Mail app prematurely and restarts and forced restarts of the devices have not helped. The Undo feature in Mail is set to 10 seconds and I keep a maximum of three apps open at best on the iPad at one time, only a max of two apps open on the iPhone. Is it possibly a problem with IOS or the Mail app? Thanks for any insight you might offer.

Hi vincent from az, We appreciate you reaching out to us. We’d like to gather additional details that may help us be in a better position to assist you.

Is the available storage for both devices extremely low?

Do you have multiple mail accounts? If yes, are you experiencing this issue across all your mail accounts?

If the issue only happens on a certain account, please check with your mail provider.

If you answer no to both questions, please reach out to us using the support link below so we can take a closer look into the issue.

Thank you for reaching out to me, kamote0628. Much appreciated. In answer to your questions:

No, the available free storage space on both devices is quite large and with regards to available memory, I close out my apps as soon as I’m done with them. In the case of Mail, I do wait until the Undo Send is complete, the Outbox blips momentarily and the Sent folder shows the email in it.

Yes, I do have multiple email accounts on both devices but it only happens on my primary email account which is set up in Settings.

I’ve already checked with my email provider several times but the emails that just occasionally disappear are not to be found in my DRAFT, OUTBOX or SENT folders on either device. It is as if I never ever composed and sent them.

Please bear in mind that it happens only occasionally, not with any regularity. Thanks again for your help.
