How can I fix incorrect album artwork on my iPhone Apple Music App?

I have a new iPhone 15 Pro Max. I have a large music library (590 GB). I don't use the iCloud Music Library. I have a large CD collection and I recently reimported most of the CDs in Apple Lossless format, paying particular attention to each album having an Album Artist and Album Artwork. I have an 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro. When I get a new phone, I have to sync all of my music onto my phone. I have it set to sync all music. I noticed as I was playing music in the car that the album artwork is wrong for about every fifth track I play on random play. When I encounter a song that has something wrong, I add it to a playlist to be fixed later. I just synced my phone, thinking I would fix the tracks I've added to the playlist, but they don't need fixing on my Mac. They are still wrong on my iPhone. How do I fix this??

Wow, Paul--you have an impressive collection, more than 4 times the size of mine. Of course I've found that I only enjoy listening to 25% of my library.

Something became corrupted during the initial wireless transfer of data from my old iPhone to my new iPhone (suspect Music app and related data).

I should clarify that removing all music from the phone and re-syncing as Paul did, DID NOT solve the album artwork mixup for me. It was also necessary to delete the Music app from the phone, re-install it then re-sync Music.

Remove music files and Music app from phone:

  1. Connect iPhone to Mac.
  2. On Mac, in a Finder window, select iPhone, then the Music tab/button at the top. Uncheck the Sync Music checkbox, hit Apply button at bottom.
  3. On iPhone, Settings>General>iPhone Storage (follow Paul's solution to delete all music files from phone).
  4. On iPhone, Settings>General>iPhone Storage, delete Music app from phone.

Re-install Music app and re-sync music from Mac:

  1. On iPhone, go to App Store app and search for Music app (it should have a cloud over a down arrow icon next to it showing that you previously had it installed). Download it.
  2. On Mac, in a Finder window, select iPhone, then the Music tab/button at the top. ☑️ the Sync Music checkbox, hit Apply button at bottom.

I have tried all the methods mentioned here, but am still experiencing problems syncing my Music library from my iMac to my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I have deleted the Music app on my iPhone and reinstalled it, I have turned it off and on, I have deleted the just the music itself, and various combinations of them all, but some of the album artwork only displays a music note on my iPhone while others show correctly. None of them, however, as seems to be the case in this thread, display incorrect artwork of another album. All of the music on my iMac are from my own CD library and the album artwork for all are correct. Any other suggestions?
