Turn off in-app browsers in Twitter (aka “X”)

Twitter seems to have removed the option in their ios app for disabling the twitter in-app browser. This is an irritating thing app devs do to be able to report time you spend on external websites as time you spend in their apps, and it’s irritating (or potentially even a security issue) for me as a user for a number of reasons.

is there any way to make iOS force stubborn apps like Twitter/X to automatically open links in the default browser?

iPhone SE, iOS 16

Hey hrothgarvonmt,

If the functionality in the app has been removed, there's not a way for iOS to force use of the system browser over the in-app variant. You might inquire with the app developer to see if the setting is still present and in a different location or if it's been removed completely. Here's How to contact an app developer.

You can also leave Product Feedback for iOS here, if this is a functionality you'd like to potentially see added in a future software release.

Take care.
