Not receiving screen time requests from one kid

I have family set up on two kids phones and haven’t had any issues but this last week one kiddos screen time requests for Apps are not coming through. I am not getting the push notifications like I normally do, the other kids phone is still coming through. If I look at the phone that is not working it’s says failed afterwards and it takes you to a text message sent to my email address. I can see the request in screen time under the kid and approve it that way but it’s nice getting the push notification. I am not sure what happened but would love to fix it.

Have done this 3 times and still not getting push notifications for screen time requests. The messages are going to my email.

This issue started with the 17.0 iOS update. I am very frustrated.

Verify Screen Time is Set Up Correctly:

Refer to the following. The last three bullets seem to be the most applicable ones to refer to, being they are all about modifying and troubleshooting...

Then Disable Screen Time. That seems to be wha is getting in the way here. Reenable it, once the update has completed.

Screen Time Being the Culprit:

Do, disable Screen Time, and then manually restart the iPhone performing all of this, once more.  Screen Time is found in Settings. IF this is not your iPhone, then you'll have to ask whoever operates this to disable it for you.




A. Disabling Screentime:

  1. Go Here: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. As it Reads: "To change or turn off the passcode on your child's device, go to Settings > Screen Time and tap your child's name. Then tap Change Screen Time Passcode or Turn Off Screen Time Passcode, and authenticate the change with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode."


B. Manually Restarting your iPhone:

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Select: General
  3. Scroll to: the Very Bottom
  4. Select: Shut Down
  5. Slide Finger: to the Right
  6. Wait: 30 Seconds
  7. Power One: the iPhone
  8. Try this Once More

Troubleshooting Notifications:


Update the iPhone to iOS17:


Use a Computer:

You iPhone does not have the latest-compatible iOS version installed. So, update to iOS17. Use my User Tip:  Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip


IMPORTANT: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update
