Autofill not working on M1 Mac, Ventura

Workaround which worked for me -- in Contacts, created a new contact card from scratch, put in all my details, pressed Card > Make This My Card, and issue was resolved.

This worked for me! Actually didn't even need to make a new contact. I just needed to Make This My Card.

On iPhone, you have to long press your name in Contacts > Make This My Card.

On Mac, in the menu Card > Make This My Card

I did it from my phone and iCloud synced the change in seconds and Autofill began to work on Safari on my Mac.

All that is set as it's supposed to be and has not changed. It always worked for years and now suddenly not - again - none of these steps does anything bcz. it's already setup correctly.

I’m having the same issue on the iPhone. It’s not the autofill settings. I get the slide up that asks if I want to autofill. It autofills my user name and then doesn’t fill in the password. When I click in the password field it asks again for autofill the FaceId appears and changes to the check mark - then nothing happens. There is an issue with the platform.

To perform the recommended troubleshooting steps via the link above, complete the steps in the section below.

* In the Safari app  on your Mac, choose Safari > Settings, click AutoFill, then make sure “User names and passwords” is selected.

* Make sure any information you want to autofill is saved in your My Card in Contacts. Safari can fill in only contact information that’s in Contacts. For example, if a form requires your phone number but it isn’t on your contact card, you must fill it in manually.

* Make sure the webpage has fields AutoFill can complete.

* Safari may be unable to tell which fields are for user name and password, credit card number and expiration date, and so forth.

* If your Mac or Apple keyboard has Touch ID, and you want to use Touch ID to fill in user names and passwords or credit card information, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click Touch ID & Password  in the sidebar, then turn on “Use Touch ID for autofilling passwords” on the right. (You may need to scroll down.) See Touch ID & Passwords settings.

If AutoFill still doesn’t work, the website may not allow it.

To turn AutoFill off, choose Safari > Settings, click AutoFill, then deselect the information you want to enter manually.

We recommend the steps above because they will show you what to do if AutoFill doesn’t work as expected on your Mac.

Check your Profile ID in Contacts. Mine was wrong, had no current info, so the auto-fill stopped working.

When an Apple Sr. Tech did troubleshooting, he discovered it, and fixing it made my auto-fill work correctly again.

If all else fails give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following; 

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts 

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Check your own card in Apple Contacts. Mine was messed up and missing most of the needed info, so cleaned it up and WHEEE, autofill works now. (An Apple Sr Tech advisor helped me figure it out.)
