Apple Pay prevents smart lock from working on new iphone

the Door of my lodging used a Bluetooth enabled smart lock and corresponding app for entry. My old iPhone 10 can unlock the door with no problem. I recently upgraded to the 15, but now any time I put my phone near the lock, Apple Pay pops up and prevents the phone/lock from activating. It’s stopping me from using my door (thankfully my spouse has been slower to upgrade)

Any ideas? its driving me bananas!

This is a major design flaw. Where I live the seos tags are not supported by apple wallet, and I can’t unlock my door with the app as wallet keeps opening, the lock detects it and shuts down.

same issue - iPhone XR fine, new 15 doesn’t work.

for those who ask exactly what happens- open app, enable key, touch the lock with phone, wallet flies open saying select a card, and the door lock freaks out and flashes.

ive tried not touching the lock, using one side, just left of the lock, or right, or a corner. This need a code fix. Nothing works.

apple fix this.

and before the posts come in - no turning off allow wallet in lock or press buttons does not work. We need nfc control. Apple, 27 year supporter but this is literally insane. You’re the reason I have to carry more things. Lol seriously fix it!

Jeff with all due respect, it’s an apple issue. specially iPhone 15. Did you have a 15 when last at the Hilton?

When the phone detects a nfc reader why does wallet need to open automatically. ??? What if I have another use for the radios in my phone? Why can’t I shut this off?

im sure your a good guy but your advice and understanding of this matter is flawed. Not to mention blaming every user and not trying to understand what’s happening, I haven’t posted in years but reading hours has lighting I just had to. Apple can make mistakes too… trust me I have a Newton.

classic example of apple either over simplifying or forcing products to their software.
