Apple Watch is not unlocking my Mac after upgrading to Sonoma
Tried setting "unlock with Apple Watch" to off, restarting, then turning it back on again, but it didn't work. Any other ideas?

I had this problem with the latest Sonoma update 14.2.1
My solution was to go to the system settings/Lock screen, change the "require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off" setting to immediately. Then go to the "Log in Password" setting and toggle the apple watch setting.
Wait for the screen to time out (or change the screen saver setting to never and the Turn display off to 1 minute).
After that, the apple watch unlocked the lock screen.
I then went back and set the screen saver to never and display settings to 3 minutes (my defaults).
Now all good.
I hope that helps some people.

Two things you might try. Boot the computer into safemode, after that, reboot again and login normally and test. If that doesn't work, try also rebooting the Apple Watch.
Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support (English)
Restart Apple Watch - Apple Support
The reboot of my Apple Watch did it! Thanks
Thanks Randall, I assumed the issue was related to my recent upgrade to Sonoma as it started occurring immediately after Sonoma was installed. However, restarting my watch (duh, don’t know why I didn’t think of that sooner!) seems to have resolved the problem.

I'm embarrassed to say that this was also the solution for me. I'm usually the first person to tell friends, spouse, and family members: "Try rebooting first to see if that solves your issue(s)..."
While I did reboot my Mac several times, it had not occurred to me to reboot the watch as well. <facepalm>
Thanks for the reminder. :D
Rebooting Apple Watch worked for me too! Thanks to all.
