Erasing MacBook data

Hi! My MacBook has broken down (black screen only, command + r doesn’t work as well), I’ll be happy to sell it but I’m not sure how to erase all the important data (like pics, vids) if the screen doesn’t work. Can u please help me?

How old is the laptop... what is the release year... and which version of macOS is installed?

You might be able to take advantage of Target Disk mode and access the drive from another Mac.

If you cannot use Target Disk mode, another option might be to remove the internal drive from the broken machine and then recycle the carcass.
