“Watch”ing out for a stranger… got me 2 losses for 1 price!

stranded motorist asking for help sold me his watch for $50 - I’m an android user but my hubby is a iOS user and thought he might like having one. Motorist showed me it was in perfect shape and worked perfectly. However, being rushed? Forgot? Neither of us thought to exchange information or reset watch - now 2 months later it’s a nice paperweight. No IDEA who the guy was!!? And it wasn’t a scam since I saw the watch /phone being used together…

how do we get into this thing?

Windows, Windows 10

Activation Lock is designed to prevent anyone else from using an Apple Watch if it's ever lost or stolen.

About Activation Lock on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Activation Lock is an anti-theft feature that cannot be bypassed. Only the previous owner can remove the lock by using their Apple ID & password. Apple will not help you find the previous owner. If the previous owner cannot or will not remove the lock, then the watch is useless to you or anyone else. Dispose of the watch properly. In the future, see the 'Before you buy a watch from a third-party' section in:
