Apple ID password incorrect message

I'm trying to use my Apple ID on an old 17' MacBook Pro , but it tells me my Apple ID password is incorrect. After having updated my Apple ID password and restarting both computers it still tells me my password is incorrect.

How do I fix this?

To be clear, are you able to log in to that Mac using your login credentials — which are not necessarily the same as your Apple ID.

What is that MacBook Pro's exact model identifier please (not its size)? If you do not know it and are unable to find out due to an inability to log in, look for a serial number printed on the underside of your Mac, near its regulatory markings. You can type that serial number into Apple's Check Coverage page which will reply with a description of that Mac.

Please do not post that serial number on this site though since it is publicly viewable.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I'm able to log in to my computer nearly 2009 MacBook Pro 17' (MacBookPro5,2

MB604xx/A)However I think there is something funky going on with my Apple ID/ iCloud account or password. I can log in on my 2021 M2 MacBook Pro and my iPhone 14, but not on the above mentioned MacBook or on another MacBook Pro (2015). The last two both give me the " incorrect password" message. When I try checking in under a different Apple ID, for example my wife's, it worked a few times, but is now giving me the same "incorrect password" message. I've tried typing on the physical MacBook keypad and with the mouse on the Keypad viewer onscreen keypad. Same result.
