How would Apple Pay refund text notification look like?

I got this message : Apple Pay Support: Your payment from sender was refunded to Apple Cash account and will be available in the next 24hours sorry for the inconvenience

Apple does not use Gmail. Thats the first clue. There is no such thing as <Apple Pay Transfer Refund.> Lastly, Apple US billing is mostly in Cupertino, CA (San Jose), not Grand Rapids, Michigan and it would be a toll free number.

That’s spam. Not even from apple. Delete it. Block it. Don’t interact.

Can you post a screenshot, it might be a scammer attempting to get personal information. I’ve never had Apple Pay Support contact me. It would more likely be from Apple Cash.

Not sure what you mean by refunded. Are you sending Cash using Apple Cash? If it is not accepted the funds will be returned. If you're using Apple Cash at a merchant that accepts Apple Pay refunds will post to the original payment method.

i recently got a message saying money I sent to someone was refunded but I never got the money back the message was “Apple Pay: your $50 payment you sent to ****@icloud.com was refund back.” Does Apple Pay send messages like this?

It might. Refunds are generally received 5 to 7 business days after the refund was initiated. How long ago did you receive the email?
