Adult Son Can’t Make Purchases with His Card Since I Got iPhone 15 and Updated Plan. HELP!

I (Father) upgraded to the iPhone 15 last week. In the process, I upgraded our Apple Family Plan. Now, my 20 year old son can no longer make purchases with his own credit card while he is away at school.

we have both looked online for answers, and I’ve tweaked Purchase Sharing settings, but can’t figure out how to make this work. Does anyone have any advice in this situation?

iPhone 15, iOS 17

Hi there Travioli78,

Did the family organizer follow the steps below to turn off Purchase Sharing?

If you're the family organizer and you want family members to pay for purchases themselves, turn off purchase sharing:
1. Go to your Purchase Sharing settings in Settings on your iPhone or iPad or in System Settings on your Mac.
2. Turn off purchase sharing:
* On your iPhone or iPad, tap Stop Purchase Sharing.
* On your Mac, click Turn Off, then click Stop Purchase Sharing.
When purchase sharing is turned off, you stop sharing your purchases and lose access to the purchases made by your other family members. However, you can continue to share subscriptions like Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade, but everyone must use their own payment method for purchases.

You'll find those steps in the link posted previously.

If this behavior persists, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support directly for further assistance. They're best-equipped to take a closer look at the issue and provide some additional guidance. This link will help you get started: Apple Support

Take care.
