SMTP settings with a custom domain?

I use a CRM and am trying to set up the SMTP settings to send email from it with my custom domain email. The settings will not allow me to use my custom domain email address to log into the SMTP server, but it does allow me to use my icloud primary email address to log in. The issue with this is that now my outgoing email comes from the primary address, rather than my custom domain.


I can successfully log into my icloud account via icloud.com using my custom domain email address, so it seems that I should be able to do the same via SMTP. Is there a step that I'm missing somewhere? Not sure if it matters, but the domain was purchased through GoDaddy. Thanks in advance.

Thanks ShannonM1 for replying to this! My custom domain email looks like it's set up correctly and I'm able to connect to my Gmail account to successfully use it to send/receive messages. Unfortunately I'm still encountering the same problem with setting it up in my CRM, with either the icloud or GoDaddy SMTP settings. I'm not subscribed to the custom domain email through GoDaddy, however; my domain was purchased through GoDaddy, but I used icloud to set the email up since I already owned the domain.


Any other suggestions?

You'll want to double-check things are set up using the steps at Use Custom Email Domain with iCloud Mail - Apple Support and the associated article Add an email domain you already own to iCloud Mail on iCloud.com - Apple Support.


GoDaddy should be able to confirm with you the exact settings that need to be entered to allow it to connect properly.

I have a similar need. I am attempting to setup outgoing emails from my NAS (synology).


My email works fine with custom domain, I can send and receive from other apps like you are.


I tried with these settings, iCloud Mail server settings for other email client apps - Apple Support

using both my actual apple account password, and the suggested Using app-specific passwords - Apple Support


but I receive an authentication error when trying to send emails out.


my domain is hosted by Cloudflare and is setup correctly.

I still haven't found a solution or received answers from the apps I'm trying to log into icloud with. My custom domain/email I set up through icloud works fine via gmail and I can log into my icloud account using it, but my CRM app (Studio Ninja) still returns an invalid username/password error, both with original and one time passwords.
