Since installing ios 17 on my 14 pro I can't move or copy photos to my PC. It stops part way, it changes the numbers on the photos and it leaves place markers instead of a picture. I have to reboot the phone several times to get things moved. After a couple it says the data is not valid on the phone until I reboot it. And it corrupted some pictures to where I couldn't recover them.

I have similar issues and they seem to appear after ios 17 and the new heic file type. I transfer pictures from my iPhone to PC over usb cable and use drag and drop. Viewing iphone pictures in Windows either shows heic, jpg or a mix. If all photos on iphone show up as heic in Windows, drag and drop works, but if some photos shown as jpg strange things happen
1) The Foto app in Windows can't open the pictures on the iphone nor in Windows folder, it times out
2) file names are shifted around between photos when having a mix of hiec and jpg photos
3) instead of copying the photo the icons are copied, happen for 50-100 % of the photos on iphone
After a fresh start of the PC and connection with the iphone it works but at some time something breaks and the above starts to appear.
Today I did set the "keep original" flag for the photos app on my iphone, maybe it helped because no issues right now.
Yes, previous to IOS 17 I had no problems cutting and pasting photos from my iPad to a Windows 7 PC. Now, I select 275 photos to move to my PC and only 50 are copied and none deleted from the iPad. It wasn't broke before so put back the code that allowed the easy movement of images.
Having the same issue as well.
Just wasted an hour as thought the issue was my PC or cable set-up.
Would not have upgraded to IOS17 if I had known this was going to be an issue!
Tried using Windows 11 Photo as recommended in thread but this is so cumbersome.
Don't know why Apple is trying to make their product worse!!
Might be time to look at other brands!!
I use my iPhone 14 to take pictures for work. I cannot use the iTunes for photos. I have to drop them into my files for the software. I can no longer drag my photos over into the files. This must be fixed or I will have to use another device for photos.
are you pushing people away from iPhone? I will have no choice if this isn’t fixed immediately.
Tried using the Photos app on Windows 11 but this does not work properly - only copies some photos and then renames by 1 number??!! Also unable to transfer in HEIC format. Will only transfer (when it does) in JPG format. Have checked phone settings and these all are set to HEIC format. This is becoming such a pain as use this for work and wasting so much time trying to get photos from phone. Might need to go back to carrying a digital camera around with me as well - so much for progress!
I haven't been able to get photos consistently transferred from my phone in five years. I have gone through different apple phones, cables, tried everything recommended and have been largely unsuccessful. I am going to use the phone until it no longer works, but I won't be replacing with another apple product.
I have the same issue. Everything was working fine prior to the update. I have even tried resetting my iPhone 12 pro and still have the problem.
I have the same issue as it sounds as if many do. This occurred with the advent ot iOs 17. This is a large issue for me and I am sure many others, please fix this.
Also, I have tried two different cables, both of which were working previously, lightning to usb and lightning to usb-c
Since I installed update 17.3.1, I can't import pictures on my windows 11 pc. Also, when I tried to import on my windows 10 pc, It worked once, now it doesn't work anymore either.
If apple don’t change their policy and continue to make it more difficult to download pictures I’m moving from apple we don’t need all this hassle
When I try that it actually brings over the wrong photos. It grabs random photos instead of what I checked to bring over
