I am having trouble printing from my iPhone

Do the following, in this order:

• If you have VPN installed, delete the VPN profile and app - If that doesn't fix it proceed with the next steps
• power off the printer
• Power off your iPhone
• Restart your router by unplugging it for 15 seconds (many newer routers have no true power switch)
• Turn on your iPhone
• Connect the iPhone to the Wi-Fi network if it doesn’t automatically connect
• Power on the printer and wait for it to connect to Wi-Fi

You should also check with the printer manufacturer for a software update for the printer.

These steps restart the BonJour network that supports AirPrint, and will usually resolve any AirPrint issues. You probably don’t need to do all of them, but following these steps is usually less work than finding the one that is causing the problem.

I had the same issue on an HP printer. I fixed it by re-entering my Wi-Fi password on the printer – basically reconnecting the printer to Wi-Fi. I tried everything else, unplugging it, restarting my iPhone, etc.… But re-entering the Wi-Fi password worked like a charm.

I Used to be able to print with VPN on but then I could not print with my iPhone but could print with my iPad. An Apple Agent told me to reset my iPhone. I did it worked for one day then same problem. I now turned off the VPN and my iPhone can print. I hope it lasts for more than one day. Thank you for your help.

I had the same problem. I was told to make sure your VPN is off. I f my vpn is on I can’t print but once my vpn is turned off I can print.

Getting a Printer to Reconnect:

Update the firmware on the Printer. If connected to the Internet, you may be able to do so on the the LCD screen of the printer.

Finally resolved the problem by re-inputting the printer’s WiFi network password.

I don't believe this to be a printer or network error. I've tried printing to both printers I own--to no avail. Yet when I do a reboot on my iPhone, it suddenly works. Hope Apple can get this rectified soon. Frustrating.

So far I’ve been able to get my HP printer to print if I unplug it, then plug it back in, but it’s a real pain since I have to do it every time I want to print something. It won’t print without doing this from my iPhone 14, my iPad mini or my son’s iPhone XR. It will print fine from my Dell laptop, so I suspect it’s an Apple problem
