Apple TV HD, tvOS 17
I have the same issue.
Both AppleTVs in the house are running tvOS 17.0 (I don't download or install beta versions).
In both cases, the Up Next option to Remove or Mark as Watched etc does not pop-up when selected.
The page also freezes when you try to select by holding down the remote button and unable to move up/down/left/right etc.
This is not a beta version issue.

Thank you but that’s how it used to work. Since the update last week, it doesn’t.
I have rebooted the device at least a half a dozen times, yes.
Rebooting fixes the issue for a little bit, but then after watching a show and going back to the Apple TV menu, the issue returns.
Try using your iPad or iPhone. Go to the Entertainment app and click on the episode’s 3 dots. a menu pops up and you can then remove the episode from there. It worked for me.
I’ve also found that using the Siri talk button while in Up Next, and requesting it to remove, a particular show works, randomly.
I'm having the same issue. I'm running tvOS 17.1 (not running any kind of beta). When I click on a show in "Up Next" and hold the middle button to bring up the context menu, nothing appears on the screen. *However*, if you click up/down, you can *hear* the context menu working; it's just off-screen (likely appearing just off screen above). I can click out of the hidden context menu by hitting the back button, and I can remove the show from "Up Next" by asking SIRI to remove it. But this is unacceptable. It was working perfectly before the 17.0 update, and now it's just frustrating and buggy.
So now I’ve rebooted my Apple TV and it worked for a day and now it’s acting like I’m not subscribed to AppleTV. What the actual F? Sigh How do I log in on the TV?
Have you restarted your AppleTV box since it upgraded to 17.0?
Fixed the issue for me.
The previous reply is for tvOS 17.0. If you have newer software, then you are running beta software, and I don't have that on my system, and we can’t discuss that here per the forum terms of use and beta program terms of use.
UPDATE: Restarting the AppleTV box appears to (at least temporarily) fix the issue.
On the Apple TV box, click-and-hold on a tile in the Up Next row should now present a contextual menu next to the tile, where one of the options is “Remove from Up Next”. (tvOS 17.0)
Thank you augootz, that worked perfectly! You can also long press the shows you want to remove off of up next, that works too!
