Automation: ‘Apple Watch Workout’ no longer working

I have had an automation for over a year that when I start a workout on my Apple Watch it puts my phone into a focus mode.

For some reason, this has stopped working.

I have deleted the automation and have added it back again, and it still refuses to work.

I have also changed the automation to send me a message just make sure that it’s not the focus mode that is causing the automation to not work and still, nothing happens when I start the workout.

I created a shortcut that starts a workout on my watch, and that works perfectly fine, so I know that the phone and watch are talking to each other but for some reason, the watch does not send commands to my phone.

I have restarted my phone normally and hard reset.

I have reset my watch but it does not work on my Ultra or Watch 5.

What else can I try?

This automation was the real

reasons I chose to get an ultra instead of a competitors watch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Workout automations had been working mostly well for years, including with the iOS 17 and watchOS 10 betas. But they stopped after I migrated to a new iPhone and Apple Watch (15 Pro Max and Ultra 2). I’ve tried adding new without automations for start and stop, and they do not trigger either.

I’ve seen several reports of without automations being broken after upgrading devices with iOS 17 and watchOS 10, even after setting up as new.

My other automations continue to trigger as normal.
