Apple Superdrive does not accept DVDs, CDs work fine though?

DVD's rejected from the superdrive on both my Macbook Air and my family members, but when we try CD's it works perfectly fine. Any advice? I wondered if they were simply old DVDs but tried a new one and it still ejected. It makes lots of noises, stops and then ejects.

If the player is connected via a hub or dock (you didn't offer any connection details), try a direct connection to the Mac, i.e. remove the hub or dock from the path.

Also, if the same DVDs keep failing; clean them. You can safely use warm soapy water since they are 100% plastic. Just be sure they are thoroughly dry after cleaning. I use Dawn detergent and just my fingers; dry with a clean dry microfiber cloth.
