Why can't my iphone display jpg images or reach websites until after reboot?

Why can't my iphone display jpg images or reach websites until after reboot?

It's an iPhone SE2020 running ios 17.0.3. It's been behaving like this for several months; the problem is increasing. When it hangs trying to open a link to a sight, I can apply the same steps on my hp laptop and the site displays. This indicates it's not my network (which I have checked also), although toggling my wifi off and on allows iphone to get to the site; sometimes just leaving the screen and coming back allows it to.

Instead of displaying jpg images, it shows a .HEIC file. Eventually that gets resolved to the jpg image.

It acts like it's running out of RAM.

It is using 23.17 GB of it's 64GB.

Hi TAKoller,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. Since it happens in multiple browsers, there may be another issue such as network or just with how the websites are loading. If you haven't, try connecting to another Wi-Fi network and see what happens there. This and other guidance can be found in If Safari isn't loading websites or quits on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. The following sections may be particularly helpful.

"Clear website data

You can clear website data occasionally to improve Safari performance.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari.
  2. Tap Clear History and Website Data.
  3. Tap Clear History and Data to confirm.

Turn on JavaScript

Turn on JavaScript if it's not already on.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari > Advanced.
  2. Find the JavaScript feature.
  3. Tap the button to turn on JavaScript."

Take care.

Hi TAKoller,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

We appreciate the details shared, but we do have a couple of questions to help clarify what may be causing this behavior.

Is this only happening with the Safari app?

When you say the photos are not loading, are you referring to the photos on a webpage in Safari or is this an issue in another app?

Do you have Low Power Mode enabled? If so, does this happen when Low Power Mode is disabled? If you are unsure, see Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.

Let us know these answers and we'll be happy to continue.

Take care!

Is this only happening with the Safari app? - no, but I didn't know where else to post it and I think may be linked to Safari or network settings on the iphone. Sometimes get the heic file when I receive or send a imessage with a picture. Eventually it resolves itself and the picture appears but it takes a while.

As for the websites not displaying, this happens when opening a link from a google query (several browsers) or a yahoo email message.

The website issue I can usually resolve by resetting my iphone network. When it's happened I try the same action on my hp laptop but it is successful.

Hope this helps because I'm spending a lot of time trying to troubleshoot this.
