Can't sign in to my Apple ID from Mac Mini

I've confirmed my apple email and password are correct and I don't get an error message when I attempt to log in, it just goes back to the login screen asking me to enter my email and password again like I never entered it. It's keeping me from downloading/updating any apps from the app store. Also, I'm not sure if this is related or relevant, but when I login to apple online, it says it sends a verification to my device but I never get it. I have to opt in for the text verification instead. Any help is appreciated.

Hello AJMorales1191,

It sounds like you have a two-factor authentication on your account. So what may be happening in the first scenario is it isn't populating for you to enter that code and just looping back. Details on that are provided at Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support.

So let's try first by going to safe mode - Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support. This only allows critical functions to work and can help narrow down trouble with third-party interactions. Try and update the apps there and let us know what happens.
