WiFi often slows or stops working when I connect MacBook Air to external monitor

I use a Benfei Thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor to connect my MacBook Air (2017) to an external monitor for work purposes. However, when I do so, I very often (though not always) experience a slowdown in or complete loss of WiFi connection.

I've seen this seems to be quite a common problem. Could it be because I'm using a third-party adaptor? I don't think there's an issue with any of the ports concerned. Can anyone suggest a fix, please?

Hello sc_otter,

Thank you for reaching out and posting in Apple Support Communities.

From what you have shared, it sounds correct when you say it may be the adapter you're using since the issue appears when added. We recommend reaching out to the manufacturer to see if there are any type of firmware or driver updates that may need to be installed. We did find the link for the manufacture to help get you started. Benfei
