iPhone Voice to text issue on iOS 17

Not to be repetitive like everybody else’s problem - mine is the same. I’ve tried so many different ways to try and fix based on YouTube etc etc etc

The only solution that I have found to be a temporary fix is to completely delete the English US keyboard and add a Australian/New Zealand keyboard which is still English and that made my microphone text voice worked again, and then reinstall the US keyboard but again the microphone text to voice did not work - until the real Apple solution comes - this is best choice

I turned in my iPhone 13 Pro and got this iPhone 15 Pro and since then I’m having the exact same issues you’re describing. In messaging I will use dictation, speech to text and it either misses the first half of what I started saying or it cuts off the end of what I was saying I’m not sure what’s going on.

Lately I've noticed when I am dictating with messaging the little microphone which is disappear and I can no longer dictate. If I go out of the message and come back in it reappears. This is on top of all the other things we have discussed as to lack of functionality. Has anyone else noticed the microphone completely disappearing in the middle of texting?

Yep, mine is not working either. Apple support , get it together.

I noticed the same thing happening when giving Siri commands to create reminders or calendar events. It often just leaves out entire words. It does seem part of the general pattern of Siri just getting worse the more I use it. It seems to be using crowd sourcing at some level for its language understanding.

Same thing here. Don’t want a work around. I’d rather have a patch to the original issue. Hey Apple, you working on this? Maybe give us a response on YOUR own support boards

The ‘voice to text’ is very near a deal breaker for me. Either activates too late or shuts off too early. The cursor issues have been a problem for years.

The "fix" until Apple truly fixes the issue is to delete your us keyboard and install the Australian or New Zeeland both work perfectly.

the commas, the double spacing, the "hast" as in "my dog hast a collar" has me ready to switch to Samsune. The voice to text is unusable. It takes four times to use the voice to text because you have to go back and correct everything and lately what I've been noticing is I get halfway through correcting whatever it is and the iPad decides it's time to just post it as is so my comment gets posted corrected through a completely distorted voice to text and I have a paragraph of nonsense that doesn't mean anything with a bunch of misspelled nonsense and punctuation that makes no sense and double spaces in comments where I didn't ask for them and comments where I said commas and here we are. It's a disaster. It's 2024. I am speaking clear English. This should not be a problem .

I've been using the Australian keyboard and although not perfect, it seemed way better. Based on a couple of posts here today I went back to US keyboard and it seems significantly worse and so I am back to using Australian. The US keyboard duplicates words and even entire sentences often; frequently drops words; and seems incapable of doing end punctuation anymore. If I say "period" it types out the word. Sigh.

Perfect advice that actually works since apple did not make the recommendation. Sad not a samsung fan but they have me seriously contemplating a switch.
